Jumpify Me!!

As many of you are aware from posters around the school and from the announcements made on the P.A system, on May 26, our school will be participating in the Jump Rope for Heart This is an event run by the Heart and Stroke Foundation . More than 8 out of 10 Canadian children between the ages of 5 and 17 aren’t active enough to support optimal health and development, putting children at serious risk for heart disease at a young age – but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Please come to school ready to be active and wearing proper gym clothes (sweat pants, t-shirt, and running shoes).

Parents please find a permission form coming home with your child, please sign it and return them back to school.

As you are all aware that healthy eating and exercise is very important to a healthy and long life. This topic works perfectly with our gym, health and science unit.
For homework please do the following:

  1. Find all your favourite foods in your house and write them down in a list.
  2. Look at the side of the food container where it shows you the "Nutritional Facts"  (Remember we discussed this during our last health class. I added a photo to help you remember what it looks like)
  3. Write down next to the food how much: a) Sugar there is and b) Calories there is
  4. Please bring this list in with you tomorrow as we will be discussing our findings during science time.
Here are some links for you to research on for the Jump Rope for Heart

Here is an amazing video for you to watch on students doing some pretty cool things with their jump ropes!
